Loki wouldn't deliberately name him something cruel. He's not gratuitously nasty to children, for one thing. But Fjord can't know that. Loki nods to him in acknowledgement of the name, a flicker of something thoughtful and nostalgic in his eyes for a moment. "Well met, Fjord. Funny, that's what we used to call an ocean inlet where I come from. Usually an icy, rocky, cold one. I suppose you must live close to the sea in your world?"

Ah. He can see that hesitation, and he has enough experience interacting with street kids (and older denizens of harsh places) that he recognizes it for what it is. "-oh. I'm not--erm."

I'm not a creep, I promise. "Look, I have a son who's probably about your age. Adopted. Long story. I can be a nasty piece of work to adults but I'm not going to do anything untoward to a kid."
