Jim checks his tongue before he lets any more irreverence pass his lips. He's not unaware of where he is right now, and under whose banner this party is for. Moreover, Felix's entire professional career is based around finding and befriending gods. Trying to do get on their good side for whatever aims he might need them for later. If Jim undermines that with his own confusion and skepticism it wouldn't be great for Felix.
